STORY-SHARING GUIDE

The most effective way to generate empathy--an essential first step to bridging brittleness between opposing fractions--is to share personal stories, not opinions. This story-sharing guide taps into my three decades of experience teaching the art of the personal essay and narrative nonfiction. Anyone can download the guide for free, which includes a sample essay exchange between people with opposing views, but you can also reach out to me about hosting a writing workshop for your group, which does require a fee. The Bronzed Project’s Story-Sharing Guide includes the following:
Assorted advice and insights on navigating story exchanges
“Framing Your Story, Hearing Their Story”
“Starting a Story-Exchange Program in Your Community”
Sample Essays from two people with opposing views
“Tips from Conflict Resolution Expert Paula Green”
Sampler of Existing Story-Share Programs
